In Mystic Messenger, Michael Tsarion writes about life in the modern world and how the mind can be controlled by forces outside of our control. It is a story that is fast paced with excellent character development. At the beginning of the book we are introduced to the main character Michael, who is working hard to support his family while juggling his personal life. A few months pass before we find that this man's life has changed dramatically for the better. We quickly find that Michael is the main target of an international terrorist organization and he must find out just what happened to make him a target and get the good ending in this story.

The story rapidly moves to introduce another main character, Alex, who is a major figure within the organization known as MR. It is here where we see the writer use a bit of irony when dealing with a terrorist organization. Even though Alex is a member of MR. It is clear that he is not really interested in the political struggles going on in the background. This is a person that seems to only have the best of everything. While all of this is going on, Michael is trying desperately to recover a mysterious case from decades ago.

 

In the second chapter we learn just what has taken place in this secret society. We learn that in the year 1989 there was a group of terrorists that were rounded up and executed. Three of the terrorists who were rounded up and executed were given a new name, "Archangel". The catch was that they had to find the good ending for the last man that was left. There were a number of people who found this out and tried to stop the execution but failed.

Michael and Alex find themselves facing off against each other. Michael has discovered that he is in fact Archangel, a guardian of sorts. He immediately transforms into his angel form to help save the two. They both have to work together to find out just what happened to the other man.

 

I honestly liked the character of Archangel Michael. Although he was not a main character, I found him to be interesting. He was kind of like an older brother to Alex. They seemed to bond over their common interest with helping people. Their relationship did seem to go beyond just friends.

 

how to get the good ending in mystic messenger was told in a fast paced way. I felt the tension build very quickly between the different characters. I felt that the whole book was fast paced. I also felt that there were many different things happening at once. There were explosions, bodies being burned, strange places being revealed and people acting very strangely.

 

Despite all of these great elements the one thing that disappointed me was that it was never explained why Michael and Alex became angels in the first place. It would have been nice to see that revealed a little bit more. That is a small criticism though for a story as good as this. I liked the story though and would read it again if needed.

 

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a really dark twist. If you are not into that sort of book then I would suggest going to your local library and reading any other fantasy books they may have in there. If you are open minded and like a really good story then I would suggest giving Mystic Messenger a try. I know I will.
